March 22, 2019: Event Recap

Facilitated by the San Diego Hunger Coalition, The Hunger Advocacy Network’s Annual Legislative Breakfast provided a forum for elected representatives to learn about food insecurity and the opportunities they have to address hunger in their roles as community leaders. On March 22, 2019, representatives  from local, state, and federal legislators’ offices joined hunger relief advocates for breakfast and an overview of food insecurity in San Diego County. The 2019 breakfast welcomed U.S Representative Susan Davis who delivered poignant remarks about child hunger in San Diego all supported by data, programs, and successes presented by local experts and hunger relief leaders. Events such as the legislative breakfast bring together leaders, experts, and practitioners to collaborate and innovative solutions to hunger in our region.

“No child should go hungry and no parent should have to worry about feeding their child. It happens every day and it’s unacceptable, especially when there’s funding to solve it.”

-Representative Susan Davis; U.S Congressional District 53

“For people who visit our community, it’s stunning for them to learn and understand how compelling a problem [food insecurity] is.”

-Vince Hall, CEO Feeding San Diego
