CalFresh is our nation’s strongest defense against food insecurity and is a vital source of nutrition for families with incomes below 200% of the federal poverty level. Many eligible San Diegans, however, are not receiving CalFresh because of complex guidelines and paperwork or lack of awareness. SDHC is looking for interns to support nonprofit partner agencies with increasing access to CalFresh for community members. Interns will interact directly with clients, prescreen interested individuals and families for CalFresh, and assist with completing applications.
The San Diego Hunger Coalition advocates on behalf of the nearly half a million San Diegans who don’t have ready access to healthy, affordable food. We do this by engaging with partners in hunger relief, human services, education, and healthcare. We’re looking for an intern who can support our communications, marketing, and story collection efforts. The Hunger Coalition celebrates its 45th anniversary this year. In partnership with the Communications Officer, this individual will support work to highlight this milestone, specifically with visuals and video pieces detailing SDHC’s history.
