Internship Program 

CalFresh Accessibility Internship

San Diego Hunger Coalition (SDHC) is seeking an intern to support grassroots data collection surrounding administrative barriers to CalFresh benefit access. This individual will be working with the Senior Director of CalFresh and Advocacy and CalFresh Program Manager to gather data in partnership with community based organizations helping residents apply for and access CalFresh benefits. This internship position will have the opportunity to collect, clean, analyze and present data internally and at community meetings.  This position will also have the opportunity to work as a part of a larger team, utilizing the data collected to inform future outreach and advocacy strategies.

Community Engagement & Advocacy Internship

San Diego Hunger Coalition (SDHC) is seeking an intern to support our grassroots community engagement and story collection efforts regarding hunger in San Diego County. This position is designed for a creative, energetic individual who is interested in catalyzing resident participation in community and government. In addition, this opportunity includes creating the foundation for our future community engagement efforts by drafting a preliminary engagement plan, researching neighborhoods impacted by hunger, identifying potential partnerships, and developing action steps for building out our Hunger Free Activist grassroots network. This individual will be working with Director of Policy and Advocacy and Communications Officer to gather data in partnership with community based organizations.

Communications & Marketing Internship

San Diego Hunger Coalition (SDHC) is seeking an intern to support our communications, marketing, and story collection efforts. This position is designed for a creative, energetic individual who is passionate about using communications to help people and create a more equitable San Diego County. In addition, this opportunity may help inform future community engagement efforts by identifying potential partnerships and messaging.  A main element of this role will be supporting SDHC’s communications to engage our Hunger Free Activist grassroots network and recruit more members. This individual will be working with the Communications Officer to research, gather data, and write and design a variety of communications materials.
