Organizational Partners

The SDHC has a unique relationship with several key organizations throughout San Diego County.

Legal Aid Society of San Diego, Inc - Advocate for CalFresh Program recipients inadvertently deemed ineligible. Legal Aid participates in SDHC’s Food Stamp Task Force.

County of San Diego - Increase enrollment in the CalFresh Program by addressing barriers and developing promising and replicating best practices toward this end.

Childhood Obesity Initiative - Collaboration grounded in the belief that solutions to hunger must employ nutrition-focused strategies that tackle the related problems of hunger and obesity.

Mid-City CAN - Ensure nutrition needs of Mid-City residents are met. SDHC participates on the Food Justice Momentum Team of Mid-City CAN.

San Diego Nutrition Network - Incorporate CalFresh outreach into the nutrition education of SDNN. Co-lead the "Stamp it Out" committee, which works to increase CalFresh enrollment and promote and educate benefit of making healthy purchases with CalFresh benefits.

San Diego Unified School District - Promote the Breakfast in the Classroom and Summer Lunch Programs. Improve CalFresh enrollment efforts at schools with high free/reduced lunch populations.

San Diego Food Bank: Established in 1977, the San Diego Food Bank is a critical component to the welfare of San Diego County, providing food to people in need, advocating for the hungry and educating the public about hunger-related issues. Through a combination of government programs and partnerships with over 350 San Diego County nonprofit charities, the Food Bank acts as a central repository and distribution point for government and donated food. 

Feeding America Food Bank: To feed the hungry; to advocate; to educate. These three things are what Feeding America San Diego strive towards every day. FASD is committed to getting food assistance to those who need it most, alleviating hunger using every possible channel, and informing the public on the problem of hunger in our communities

California Hunger Action Coalition - Coordinate advocacy so that those with limited resources can meet their nutritional needs.

California Food Policy Advocates - Stay informed on nutrition-related policies at state and national levels to effectively target our work to improve the participation and effectiveness of federal nutrition programs.

California Association of Food Banks - Provide CalFresh enrollment outreach training and on-going consultation to more than 40 organizations. Support a robust reauthorization of the Child Nutrition programs.

211 San Diego:  Connects people with community, health and disaster services through a free, 24/7 stigma-free phone service and searchable online database. 2-1-1 CalFresh prescreening and enrollment services via phone -including the first-in-the-nation telephonic signature option. 211 San Diego participates in the CalFresh Task Force and works closely with the San Diego Hunger Coalition and the County of San Diego to identify and address barriers to CalFresh participation
