Organizational Partners

The SDHC has a unique relationship with several key organizations throughout San Diego County.

Legal Aid Society of San Diego, Inc - Advocate for Food Stamp Program recipients inadvertently deemed ineligible. Legal Aid participates in SDHC’s Food Stamp Task Force.

County of San Diego - Increase enrollment in the Food Stamp Program by addressing barriers and developing promising and replicating best practices toward this end.

Childhood Obesity Initiative - Collaboration grounded in the belief that solutions to hunger must employ nutrition-focused strategies that tackle the related problems of hunger and obesity.

Mid-City CAN - Ensure nutrition needs of Mid-City residents are met. SDHC participates on the Food Justice Momentum Team of Mid-City CAN.

San Diego Nutrition Network - Incorporate Food Stamp outreach into the nutrition education of SDNN. Co-lead the "Stamp it Out" committee, which works to increase Food Stamp enrollment and promote and educate benefit of making healthy purchases with Food Stamp benefits.

San Diego Unified School District - Promote the Breakfast in the Classroom and Summer Lunch Programs. Improve Food Stamp enrollment efforts at schools with high free/reduced lunch populations.

California Hunger Action Coalition - Coordinate advocacy so that those with limited resources can meet their nutritional needs.

California Food Policy Advocates - Stay informed on nutrition-related policies at state and national levels to effectively target our work to improve the participation and effectiveness of federal nutrition programs.

California Association of Food Banks - Provide Food Stamp enrollment outreach training and on-going consultation to more than 40 organizations. Support a robust reauthorization of the Child Nutrition programs.
