About the California Hunger Action Coalition
California Hunger Action Coalition (CHAC) is a broad-based membership organization of volunteers united in the belief that access to adequate, nutritious and safe food is a fundamental human right.
The San Diego Hunger Coalition (SDHC) works with this statewide coalition of anti-hunger organizations to coordinate advocacy to alleviate hunger. The centerpiece of this collaboration is Hunger Action Day in May in which the San Diego Hunger Coalition works with CHAC to coordinate visits by social service providers and other citizens to legislators in both Sacramento and San Diego. SDHC uses the expertise and experience of the other anti-hunger groups in CHAC to create effective programs, avoid common mistakes and implement successful tactics.
